Transport Minister CP John Says He Will Accept Salary Only After KSRTC Employees Are Paid

Kerala Transport Minister C.P. John has announced that he will personally accept his official salary only after ensuring that KSRTC employees receive their monthly wages on time. Speaking at the golden jubilee celebrations of the KSRTC Neyyattinkara depot, the minister emphasized his commitment to the welfare of the transport corporation’s workforce.

During the event, the minister also highlighted the newly launched ‘Priyadarshini’ scheme, describing it as a historic step towards women’s empowerment. He assured that the state government would promptly release the additional funds required for the implementation of this scheme to KSRTC. Additionally, he mentioned that the department is actively considering granting menstrual leave to female employees working in the operating section.

The Priyadarshini scheme, which offers free travel to women and transgender individuals across 3,125 ordinary buses, is set to be inaugurated by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan in Thiruvananthapuram. The inaugural ride from Thampanoor to the Secretariat will feature KSRTC’s first female driver, Sheela, alongside a female conductor, carrying the Chief Minister and other VIPs. The free travel applies to seven classes of ordinary services, eliminating the need for concession tickets for female students on these routes.
