During the inauguration of the Priyadarshini free travel scheme at the Kollam KSRTC depot, hot payasam accidentally spilled onto the head of Minister Bindu Krishna. The incident occurred during a promotional event organized by the Youth Congress inside a KSRTC bus, where payasam was being distributed to celebrate the launch.
Following the sudden spill, Minister Bindu Krishna rose from her seat in shock, and those accompanying her immediately helped clean her face and head using a shawl and other clothes. Despite the mishap, she completed a short journey in the bus up to Chinnakkada before departing. Meanwhile, the launch of the state government’s free travel scheme for women has triggered a controversy regarding KSRTC bus stickers in Thiruvananthapuram.
Allegations have surfaced that KSRTC is deliberately pasting “City Fast” stickers on ordinary buses to deny women their free travel benefits. However, KSRTC officials clarified that these stickers were only applied to 47 existing City Fast buses to help passengers distinguish them from ordinary services, where the free travel scheme is fully active. Free travel is restricted to ordinary and limited-stop services, while City Fast and Super Class services maintain different fare structures and are excluded from the scheme.
