In a tragic incident that has deeply saddened the expatriate community, Harish Kumar, a 36-year-old Malayali expat from Kasaragod, Kerala, was found dead in Jalan Bani Bu Ali, Oman. Harish, who worked as a shop salesman, left behind a poignant suicide note in his pocket, expressing his final wish to donate his body to a medical college for research purposes.
The heartbreaking incident came to light through a social media post by Ibrahim Ottapalam, a prominent social worker and Muscat KMCC National Committee Vice President. Ibrahim, who has handled the repatriation of hundreds of deceased expats over the years, shared his deep emotional distress upon reading Harish’s final note. The note, addressed to his mother, requested that his body be handed over to a medical college so that it could be of some use to others even after his death.
Harish was the son of Mohanan and Jayashree, residing at Vellavoor House in Chamundikunnu, Kasaragod. His Omani sponsor discovered the tragedy and contacted Ibrahim Ottapalam to initiate the legal and repatriation procedures, sharing a photograph of the handwritten note found in Harish’s pocket. The sponsor has entrusted Ibrahim with coordinating with the grieving family back in Kerala to handle the final arrangements.
