Union Minister Suresh Gopi has strongly dismissed media reports claiming that he requested the BJP central leadership to relieve him from the Union Cabinet. Clarifying his stance through a social media post, the actor-turned-politician rejected the rumors and urged the public not to believe such fabricated stories.
The controversy began after reports emerged claiming that Suresh Gopi wished to step down from his ministerial duties to focus on completing his pending film projects. Responding to this, Suresh Gopi mockingly wrote on Facebook, “You knew about my resignation, but I didn’t know. Do not waste your time believing such cinema stories.” He also urged those creating fake news to stop doing so.
The rumors surfaced amidst reports of an impending Union Cabinet reshuffle by the BJP leadership, aimed at upcoming state assembly elections and the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. Speculation was also rife regarding George Kurian, another minister from Kerala, potentially losing his post due to not being renominated for the Rajya Sabha. However, Suresh Gopi’s direct clarification has put an end to the speculation surrounding his resignation.
